On Aug 25 and 26, we canvass in Pollock Pines, a small community on Hwy 50, about 20 miles east of Placerville, zip code 95726. We have exactly 10 ‘turfs’ and need 20 canvassers over the 2 days. Homes are a mix of residential neighborhoods and a few homes on more rural roads. We are hoping for both local volunteers and experienced volunteers, or both. For this canvass, we encourage carpooling, due to limited parking at the starting home site. And we will give driving directions in the RSVP. Our ‘skippers’ in Pollock Pines need to a reminder to vote, so we hope you will join us for the 25th, or 26th or both.
Please plan to arrive and sign in at 10am.
- If you have canvassed in our program before, you can pick up your walk packet and go. We can match you with a partner if you don't have one.
- If you haven't attended our event before, we will train you in our program before you go out and we’ll match you with a partner if you don't have one.
10am- 2pm Go and knock on 20 doors! Then come back and tell us about it!
After 2pm (Optional, recommended) Please join us for light fare and the good company of your fellow canvassers.

In the 4th Congressional District of California, there are 3,000 Democrats registered today who previously skipped voting in the midterms. Our project between now and 2018's elections is to knock on the doors of these "midterm skipping" voters and ask them to recommit to voting. We have a voter reactivation program that involves people signing two postcards promising to vote that we mail back to them right before the June 2018 and November 2018 elections.
Come out with us for a short afternoon where we give you a small canvassing packet of 25 registered Democrats who skip midterms. These are great conversations with people who share your Democratic values, they just forgot to vote in 2014. Our previous canvassing work suggests that for every 2 registered Democrats you speak to, 1 will say yes. It's a lot easier than registering new voters!
Getting them to commit to voting in 2018 is an easy ask, and previous canvassers talk about how it's a joy to ask for something so easy. We have a greater than 50% success rate when speaking to the voter to ask them to commit to voting in the midterms.
