Absentee ballots started mailing to registered voters in CA-04 on Oct 8 and many people have received them by now. Perhaps some have even voted! Our CalAway project continues, to knock on the doors of these 'skippers' and to have a conversation about the importance of voting this year. Many of these voters are highly engaged but some are still not aware. They may not have heard of our Congressional candidate, Jessica Morse, and they may not even know the date of the election! Your conversation with voters will change all that!
Please plan to arrive and sign in at 10am.
- We will train you in our program before you go out (and train you in what is different this weekend if you have canvassed with us before). Then take canvass packet and go out.
We send canvassers out in pairs so we will match you with a partner if you don't have one.
10am- 2pm Go and knock on about 25 doors! Then come back and tell us about it!
After 2 pm (Optional, recommended) Please join us for light fare and the good company of your fellow canvassers.
When you RSVP with an email address, we send you an email with the location of our staging area in El Dorado Hills.
In the 4th Congressional District of California, there are 30,000 Democrats registered today who previously skipped voting in the midterms. Our project between now and 2018's elections is to knock on the doors of these "midterm skipping" voters and ask them to recommit to voting. We have a voter reactivation program that involves people signing two postcards promising to vote that we mail back to them right before the June 2018 and November 2018 elections.
Come out with us for a short afternoon where we give you a small canvassing packet of 25 registered Democrats who skip midterms. These are great conversations with people who share your Democratic values, they just forgot to vote in 2014. Our previous canvassing work suggests that for every 2 registered Democrats you speak to, 1 will say yes. It's a lot easier than registering new voters!
Getting them to commit to voting in 2018 is an easy ask, and previous canvassers talk about how it's a joy to ask for something so easy. We have a greater than 50% success rate when speaking to the voter to ask them to commit to voting in the midterms.
