GOTV Canvass in El Dorado Hills (February 29th, 2020)

You're awesome! You're going to be part of a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaign to motivate and remind registered Democrats to complete and return their ballots.  Here’s what will happen:

  • Please plan to arrive and sign in at 10am for first shift or 1 pm for second shift. There will be trainings at both 10am and 1 pm.
  • Shifts are available on two days, Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 and Sunday, March 1, 2020; 10am–1pm and 1pm4pm both days.  Pick the one that fits your schedule.
  • If you have already done CAT canvassing in the 2020 cycle, we'll quickly train you on this GOTV campaign, you can pick up your turf and clipboards and go out, right away. We can match you with a partner if you don't have one.
  • If you haven't attended a CalAway event in the 2020 cycle, we will train you on this GOTV campaign before you go out. We can match you with a partner if you don't have one.
  • Go and knock on 30-50 doors (on average). Then come back and tell us about it!
  • After canvassing (Optional)  - Please join us for a light snack and the good company of your fellow canvassers.

This is a private home at 3060 Stanford Lane, El Dorado Hills, CA, with street parking available.  Please be considerate of the neighbors.

If you're coming from outside the Cameron Park/El Dorado Hills area and would like to spend the night and canvass again on Sunday, that's great! We can arrange housing for you so you're not paying for a hotel room.  When you RSVP, please let us know if you need housing.

The goal of the El Dorado Democrats GOTV campaign is to reach 85% turnout of registered Democrats in targeted races. To reach that high of a turnout, we need to deliver a reminder notice (doorhanger) and, when possible, verbal encouragement to Democratic voters who haven't returned their ballots.

That’s where you come in.

You’ll have a canvassing turf of 30 - 50 registered Democratic voters and you'll be completing what we call a Flash Canvass; knocking and talking, and leaving a doorhanger/slate card.  It's a lot easier than asking for a voter pledge card.

Please note that you do NOT need to know a great deal about candidates or issues; our purpose is a quick conversation about importance of getting registered Democratic voters to the polls. We know that when Democratic voters turnout, then endorsed Democratic candidates get elected at all levels from Congress down to city council.

Why do you need my full street address for the RSVP?

We're using a mobile app this year that allows us to provide you an electronic turf sheet through a mobile app for canvassing. To set you up for that, we need your address to check your record in the El Dorado County Democratic party copy of PDI, and make sure you have an entry. When you register ahead of time, we set up your record so that when you show up, your turf is ready to be assigned.
